Don't Get Stuck With A Dirty Car: How To Get The Most Out Of The Car Wash This Winter
Summer may be winding down, but that doesn't mean you should stop washing your car. In fact, once winter arrives, you should actually start washing your car more often. That's because mud, snow, and road salt can wreak havoc on your car's finish. If you're thinking that it's too cold to wash your car during the winter, start going through the automatic car washes. Not only will your car get clean, but an attendant will be there to take care of the finish work. Here are three steps to ensure that your car gets its cleanest when you go to car wash services.
Loosen Up the Bugs First
If you've got dried bugs on the front of your car, you should do a bit of pre-treating before you head to the car wash. Those dried-on bugs usually need some extra attention if you want to make sure they come off all the way. Fill a bucket with warm sudsy water and go over the bugs with a soft squeegee. Allow the soapy water to soak in while you drive to the car wash. The softened bugs will be no match for the scrubbing power of the car wash.
Do a Double Take on the Windows
Before you head through the car wash, take a minute to check all your windows. You'll want to make sure that they're all closed as tight as they can go. Leaving your windows open even a fraction of an inch can leave you with some serious water damage once the car comes out of the wash. It's also important that you push your side mirrors in towards the car and remove your antenna if it's detachable. Taking those extra steps will prevent damage to your car.
Give the Attendants Room to Work
Once your car has gone through the wash, attendants will take over from there. They'll thoroughly dry the outside of the car and then move to the inside. To make sure you get the best possible service, make sure you give the attendants plenty of room to work by removing any clutter from your car before you arrive at the car wash. If the inside of your car is clutter-free, attendants will be able to wipe down the windows and vacuum the floors and seats. For maximum benefit, be sure to say yes to the detailing. That will ensure that every inch of your car is clean and well-protected.
